Bro. & Mrs. Chris Tarvin
Our Mission Statement:
My mission is to preach deliverance to the captive. Many souls are incarcerated in the Department of Corrections. But there is a more serious problem, these souls are held captive by sin. The deliverance is not a physical release from prison, but a spiritual release from sin. Men and Women, young and old are incarcerated, because of sin. Their sin has brought pain and destruction to their lives, but Jesus came to set the captive free. They need the Lord and His saving grace.
As a missionary to the prisons I have the great opportunity to preach the Word of God the way it is, to men and women, as they are. We are all sinners in need of the grace of God.
•In the United States alone there are over 3 million Men and Women
•170 people go to jail or prison everyday.
•96% who get out, and are unsaved go back in 4 years.
•In Kentucky there are 19 state prisons, 6 federal and 115 detention centers.
•Ethnic break down: 78% white, 19% black, 3% other
•Religious influence: Charismatic/Pentecostal, Catholic, Muslim and many other false doctrines
Description of ministry:
We conduct revival meetings in the state prisons. We also visit cell to cell and witness of the good news, that Jesus died for their sins. Then we invite them to the services held in the chapel each night. These revivals are held in men and women facilities both.
The ministry does not forget, nor neglect men and women who have been saved. The ministry will be a constant face in the prisons. We have monthly, weekly and bi-weekly services in a set circuit. We have the opportunity to preach doctrine and see inmates grow, and become grounded and rooted in the word of God.
Genesis Program: (Inmate Bible Institute)
The bible correspondence program focuses on the new convert but, it is good for any inmate who wants to learn more about the Lord. Each lesson can stand alone. The course covers 12 major doctrines giving them a good foundation to stand on. We had inmates enrolled in 28 states in 7 federal prisons. To date we have had over 800 inmates go through the Inmate Bible Institute.
Psalms 119:105 Program: (Bible Distribution)
The Lord has given the ministry the privilege to supply 28 prisons with King James Bibles. We get letters every week from prisoners in need of a Bible. We are mailing out Bibles to serval prisons we are not even in but the Lord is letting us send His Word in. Many men and women have a Bible because Gods people give monetarily to the Bible fund.
Exodus Program: (Pre-Release)
A pre-release program written, for Inmates who are in the process being released from incarceration. The Exodus will show them from the Bible in a practical application, how to readjust to the free world. We deal with things they will face everyday when they get out. The Exodus focuses on five key points.
Needs in the ministry:
A. Needed support.
B. Need money for bibles and shipping cost.
C. Need Gods power and direction each day in the ministry.
